With just over 700 games played between them at the time, the 2009 Winter Classic pitted the then-current Stanley Cup champions Detroit Red Wings against the powerful Chicago Blackhawks at Wrigley Field before over 40,000 jubilant fans. This jersey was worn by Ben Eager during the second period of the outdoor contest. Made by Reebok, the interior collar features a single size “58” tag with the logos of the NHL and Reebok on the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring a vintage-style 1937 Black Hawks crest on the front as well as the 2009 Winter Classic patch over the right breast, the sleeves and verso have been stylized with Eager’s number “55” in triple-stacked tackle twill. “Eager” is been spelt out across the back on an affixed matching nameplate. Having been only worn in one period the jersey has no visible signs of wear and remains in gorgeous condition. An inverted MeiGray patch numbered “F05041” sits on the inside hem, and according to their population report, the jersey is a “Black Retro - Winter Classic 1/1/2009 - Worn During Period 2 - NHL-MGG Set” example. An LOA from MeiGray will accompany the item.
