Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Issued during the final season of the now defunct Western Canadian Hockey League; renamed the Western Hockey League that season due to the inclusion of the American club from Portland which would become the core of the Chicago Black Hawks in 1926-27, we offer a rare program from an Edmonton Eskimos vs Victoria Cougars match-up in 1925-26 that featured legendary HOFers Eddie Shore and Frank Fredrickson, with the program originating from Shore’s personal collection, with a signed LOA from Eddie Shore Jr. At 7” x 10”, the four-page program features the venue, date and opponents listed on the cover, with the centerfold containing the line-up. Exhibiting a few wrinkles along with a missing staple, the program is accompanied by a Vancouver Exhibition Forum oldtimers program from 1954 with Shore on the cover, with a small typed note stapled which states, “Dear Eddie: Coley (misspelled, believed to be “Cooney” as in “Cooney Weiland”) and I were just remarking that at one time you weren’t a bad looking guy, but ‘oh my how time changes things’. Wire us your arrival time and we will meet the plane. Art” (believed to be Art Ross). A single page folded twice over, the interior features a photo of the BC Benevolent Hockey Association Directors including Cyclone Taylor, with a few folds and toning visible.
