Featuring the signatures of noteworthy politicians, we offer items signed by four Governors General of Canada whos careers spanned from 1820 to 1967. Included, we have a three-page handwritten letter signed by Charles Metcalfe, 1st Baron Metcalfe 1785-1846 (in office 1843-1845, text is on both sides of each page, with two pages attached, one detached), an envelope dated “1835” with wax seal on the reverse signed by George Ramsay, 9th Earl of Dalhousie 1770-1838 (in office 1820-1828), a handwritten letter dated “31 Oct ‘89” signed by Frederick Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava 1826-1922 (in office 1872-1878, single page, text on each side), and a Government House Christmas card signed by Georges Vanier 1888-1967 (in office 1959-1967). Each of the items exhibits minimal wear with toning. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
