Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Still believing in his abilities despite the Buffalo Sabres management recommending the star retire after a concussion occurred during the 1996-97 NHL season, Pat LaFontaine was traded to the New York Rangers in September of 1997, and scored his 1,000th career point with the Blueshirts before hanging-up his skates at the conclusion of the 1997-98 season. From that final campaign, we have a signed stick used by the HOFer in 1997-98. A Louisville Fibre Force model with “Lafontaine” stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains the original white tape over the knob, with the black blade tape removed. Exhibiting just light game-use with a few marks to the shaft, LaFontaine has signed the blade in black marker, with the signature somewhat light due to a weak marker.
