Coming off of a phenomenal rookie season that him win the Calder Memorial Trophy as the National Hockey League’s rookie of the year, Auston Matthews had an equally impressive sophomore season despite missing 20 games over the course of the year, registering 63 points in 62 games played. Hailing from the 2017-18 season, we offer this stick used by Matthews. A Bauer Nexus 1N model with “Matthews” factory graphics over the shaft, the lower shaft has been blacked-out, common for this model of stick used by Matthews his first couple NHL seasons. Retaining its original white tape job present over both the blade and handle/knob with a handwritten “34” seen in black ink, a small hand drawn cross has been added to the back of the handle as well. Exhibiting moderate game-use, puck marks are seen over the blade tape on both sides with a tear seen on the backhand, some soiling is seen over the handle/knob tape with marks/abrasions present over the lower shaft and heel. Additionally, Auston has signed the forehand side of the blade with a blue ink signature that displays without issue.
