Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/2/2022
Funky colors and (48) seven-card packs from O-Pee-Chee’s 1987-88 hockey card effort are what’s in store for you if you win the bidding here, with perennial 50-goal man and Hall of Famer Michel Goulet chosen to appear on the display box. Luc Robitaille’s rookie card, along with those of Adam Oates, Ron Hextall, Rick Tocchet, Mike Vernon, Bill Ranford, Esa Tikkanen, Claude Lemieux, Vincent Damphousse, Stephane Richer and Marty McSorley highlight the rookie card lineup (of 44), with Wayne and Mario and Patrick Roy leading the star power. Set size was again 264 cards in ’87-88, with box bottom appearances here by Gretzky, Kerr, Yzerman and Robitaille – the best possible out of four different box bottom “sets.” Light handling/wear is to report; subtle one-inch creasing is near the base of the box top (near the NHLPA logo), with a little scrape to an edge (to the left of where the Gretzky box bottom foursome is listed) and the rest on the underside. Wear at the four corners is visible, along with a half-inch crease descending into the Gretzky card, the latter partially covered up by an identifying sticker from unopened specialist Baseball Card Exchange. The firm’s shrink wrap seals things nicely and includes a tamper proof hologram, as well as a certification number. Yet another dandy brick from our consignor’s terrific stash.
