Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Three youngsters who appeared on Topps baseball cards for the first time in 1983 and who would end up with a plaque in Cooperstown highlight Topps’ close-to-800-card regular ’83 issue, with the rookie cards of the late great Tony Gwynn, Ryne Sandberg and Wade Boggs the most desirable pack pulls if you decide to have some pack-opening fun. Second-year Cal Ripken Jr. cards are another possibility, with Ryan, Rose, Schmidt and other Hall of Famers also in the mix and the appearance of Super Veteran subset cards (35) a nifty addition. Willie McGee and Frank Viola RCs also contribute, with 15-card packs totaling 36 inside the offered box. The unopened specialists at Baseball Card Exchange recently examined the packs and deemed them unopened and then sealed the box with the company’s shrink wrap. Featuring the image of Reggie Jackson’s card four times, the display box has been preserved in attractive condition with a few mentionables; a tear in the box top extends from the top left corner of the die-cut section, the right edge of which is perforated (also above the 30-cent price indicator), with a small crease spotted in the back panel. A BBCE identifying label and hologram are affixed in their standard place – another interesting brick awaits!
