The presence of Super Mario and his coveted rookie card in O-Pee-Chee's 1985-86 issue will result in super interest in this luscious unopened wax box – “one sweet brick” describes its overall condition - and get this, "Tape Intact" appears on the label of unopened specialist Baseball Card Exchange that is affixed to the company's shrink-wrap on the underside of the jackpot - that's what you like to hear, eh? And, the reduction in OPC's set (down to 264 cards from 396) results in a higher percentage of chances to pull the Lemieux rookie(s), if you choose to have some fun/exciting pack-busting sessions, with Al MacInnis’ RC, four different Gretzky cards, the Lemieux League Leader card and the second-year Yzerman card also possibilities, along with a Pelle Lindbergh memorial card. Box bottom cards first appeared in '85-86, with Ruotsalainen, Brian Sutter, Tonelli and Wilson featured here, and 48 seven-card packs inside. As previously alluded to, the preservation of the box’s condition is admirable and impressive, with only light wear to the four corners of the box bottom to mention. No bashed corners or edges, no bulges, creases or other notable flaws are observed, with a non-yellowed piece of scotch tape also noteworthy. The dreamy thought and vision of a perfectly-centered, GEM MT 10 Mario Lemieux rookie card is prompted by the mesmerizing offering, released the season after the young phenom had not disappointed during his initial NHL campaign, registering an even 100 points with a lowly Penguins team. Pittsburgh’s fortune and Mario’s performance in ensuing years went up, up to the hockey pinnacle, propelling 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee cards of the Montreal native to coveted status, with unopened ’85-86 OPC boxes going up, up, up in recent months/years. Good luck with this special booty.
