Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
The final NHL playoff appearance of the original Ottawa Senators, the 1929-30 season witnessed the eleven-time Stanley Cup juggernaut finish in third place in the Canadian Division, with legendary superstar Newsy Lalonde serving as head coach. The Sens would meet and lose to the New York Rangers during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Hailing from a Feb 25, 1930 2-0 shutout over the Toronto Maple Leafs, we have an Ottawa Auditorium program. A simple fold-over affair, with Lord Stanley's coveted trophy on the cover along with the date and opponents listed, the interior features the line-up with numerous HOFers including King Clancy, Frank Nighbor (his lone Leafs' season), Hap Day, Busher Jackson, Joe Primeau, Syd Howe and others. Frank Finnegan netted both Sens goals, with HOFer Alec Connell earning the zero. Exhibiting toning and creasing, there is also a large vertical fold, with this common to programs from the era.
