Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
World Hockey Association card action offered up here includes the first and last of four WHA issues, with both comprised of 66 cards and “The Howes” leading a 1974-75 assembly. Card #1 has a “line” (indentation) down the middle and edge indentations caused by an elastic band and is otherwise EX+ but then there are mostly EX-MT to NM representatives, with a few better/worse and nice clean surfaces among the attributes. A well-centered Jacques Plante card (NM) is a highlight, along with rookie card contributions from Hedberg, Nilsson and Nedomansky, with condition exceptions being 50-Bobby Hull (an edge and a corner ding send it to VG-EX) and two creased cards (including 66-Sjoberg), while multiple creases significantly lower the unmarked checklist. Gordie Howe’s #1 card, commemorating his 1000th big league goal, leads a nice ’77-78 ensemble, similarly exhibiting very minimal handling, with all but the last card 66-Burgess (two creases) and an unmarked checklist (EX-MT) in the NM to MINT range, although a curvature in the stack is to note. Classic blasts from the past are looking for a new appreciative home.
