Highlighted by five classic images of Wayne Gretzky during his career, including the image used by the Edmonton Oilers to celebrate the superstar’s 500th career goal in 1986, this lot offers a large collection of misc 35mm colour and B&W negatives and slides totaling approx 930 featuring mostly the Edmonton Oilers during the 1980s, with images of players from other teams during the 1990s also present. Included, there are over 200 images from the Oilers vs Kings on Feb 24, 1989, Gretzky playing at the 2002 Heritage Classic, the Oilers team photo at the 2003 Heritage Classic, Gretzky with past girlfriend Vicki Moss at an Oilers Christmas party in 1984, Gretzky during the 1987 Stanley Cup finals vs Philadelphia, Glenn Anderson scoring the final goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, Mario Lemieux, Neal Broten in 1992, Brett Hull in 1991, Ryan Smyth in 1995, Glen Sather, Peter Pocklington with Henry Kissinger in 1983, Don Jackson, Theo Fleury and Mark messier during the 1991 Stanley Cup playoffs, Mario Lemieux and Paul Coffey with Pittsburgh in 1989-90, Guy Lafleur vs the Oilers in 1980-81, Bob Gainey with Team Canada in 1981, Lanny McDonald in 1984, Jari Kurri in 1983-84, Punch Imlach in 1982, Kevin Lowe during a parade in 1983, Theo Fleury showing missing teeth, Jari Kurri celebrating in 1982, Glenn Anderson (Oilers vs Russia Dec 29, 1982), Mike Bossy at the 1981 Canada Cup, Paul Coffey with the Kings in 1992, Grant Fuhr, telex images of Gretzky’s personal services contract with Racers owner Nelson Skalbania and more. The five classic Gretzky scans are 2 ½” x 3”, with the 500th showing Wayne being dumped as he releases the puck. The majority of the negatives show light handling with no issues, and are housed in their original envelopes.
