Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Just slightly late to the New York Islanders Stanley Cup dynasty party, Pat LaFontaine was drafted by the club in 1983 and made his Long Island debut in 1983-84, dressing in 15 contests. Transitioning to Buffalo after parts of eight seasons with the Isles in 1991-92, we have gloves worn by LaFontaine with the Sabres, with these specific type of models worn by the five-time All-Star during his first couple seasons in the early-1990s, accompanied by a single right glove worn by LaFontaine with the Rangers during his final NHL season in 1997-98, with a pair of signed 8” x 10” photos showing LaFontaine wearing these model gloves with both clubs. The Sabres models show heavy use with considerable rubbing to the leather throughout, with red material transfer to the left glove and a repair patch to the palm. The Rangers glove also shows moderate to heavier use, with wear to the material and pilling to the somewhat darkened palm. The photos have each been signed in blue marker and set in frames to slightly larger dimensions.
