Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Mario Lemieux was in his second NHL season and Wayne Gretzky and the Oilers were defending Stanley Cup champions when cards like these were first pulled from O-Pee-Chee packs. A total of 264 different were available, with Mario’s now the most important and valuable and the example here examined and graded NM 7 by PSA. The rest have been stored in 9-pocket pages and appear similarly crease-free and in the NM-or-better realm with very minimal handling/wear, although a touched corner or light corner ding is detected on cards of Gretzky, Yzerman, Gilmour, Lindbergh and MacInnis (RC), while Mario’s Rookie Scoring Leaders card has a not-straight left edge. Perfection, as you know, is hard to come by but flipping through the pages should provide a swell trip back in time as you admire Lemieux’s encapsulated rookie card. Four small light scratches to the front of the PSA holder are to be aware of.
