Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Classic Parkies offered here include some condition exceptions but crease-free EX-or-better cards account for the majority, with Jean Beliveau’s second-year card graded EX-MT 6 by PSA and among the condition leaders, joined by a similarly attractive (EX-MT) raw card of Tim Horton. Johnny Bower’s key rookie card (EX) has a Lucky Premium Card back and headlines a stack of EX and EX+ cards, with Sawchuk, Delvecchio, Kelly, Lindsay, 57-Mohns RC, 73-Henry RC and most (seven) of the action cards amid them. Fans of Lucky Premium backs are well-served, with an even 36 present; all but six are crease-free, including 24-Armstrong, 26-Boivin, 34-Pronovost and 82-Saskamoose RC (VG-EX+). Most cards not making it to EX do not miss by much (VG-EX, VG-EX+), with a small subtle crease sending attractive cards of 1-McNeil, 2-Moore and 41-Howe to a technical grade of VG+ and a more obvious but small crease also rendering 100-Sawchuk Stops Boom Boom VG+. Half a dozen others are creased and VG or VG+, while cards of Maurice Richard and Geoffrion have evidence of once having been glued, (a few specks of paper loss affect the Rocket and one the Boomer), but otherwise display as VG+ cards, with moisture staining detected on the back of 14-Harvey. A minimal number have semi-circular lines/indentations from once having been placed in a Parkie album. All in all, a rather pleasing pieced-together ensemble with varying degrees of toning is what you can expect when these classics arrive. Some scratches/scuffs to the front of Beliveau’s PSA holder are to note.
