Those of you always in the hunt for exemplary examples of Ken Dryden's coveted O-Pee-Chee rookie card will be pleased with the opportunity to secure the attention-grabber that is on the auction block here. Cards like this (well, maybe not this nice) were discovered in 10-cent packs just months after Dryden became an instant hero by first backstopping the Canadiens to an unlikely upset of the record-breaking Boston Bruins in the first round of the 1971 Stanley Cup playoffs and then later that spring enabling team captain Jean Beliveau to hoist Lord Stanley's trophy one last time as Montreal took out Chicago in the finals. Ken set a record in appearing in 20 playoff games and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the postseason. Upon inspection, KSA could not detect one grade-lowering flaw and awarded this example of card #45 its mark of 10 GEM MINT. The centering, the whiteness of the white, the corners and edges and the immaculate-looking surface are all a treat to behold. The centering on the back and the lack of toning are also noteworthy. Also to be aware of is the cut job; it has left a tad of edge roughness on the lower back edge, (when viewing the card in a horizontal orientation), with just a tad of the same on the top edge (above "45"). As for the holder itself, a small horizontal scratch makes its way into "KEN" on the front but is far from a deterrent in our eyes. Yours, we surmise, will be impressed upon taking possession of this high grade booty.
