Complete sets of Parkhurst’s challenging 1957-58 issue always garner plenty of interest, with important rookie cards of Henri Richard and Frank Mahovlich leading the rosters of their respective teams and this pieced-together gathering featuring mostly crease-free cards with varying degrees of toning. Although ten cards make it to EX, including 2-Geoffrion and rookie cards of 17-Hodge and 20-Baun, sufficient corner wear sends a majority to VG+ and VG-EX, with others VG. The Richard rookie has VG-EX characteristics, with color loss on the front, in the eyes of some, possibly further lowering the technical grade a notch, while it’s debatable whether the Mahovlich RC attains VG-EX – we’ll say VG+. A notable VG-EX representative is Jacques Plante, while slightly rounded corners render Beliveau and Maurice Richard VG, with Harvey (two creases) at G+. The first five numbered Maple Leafs are either VG or VG+, with uneven toning to note on the back of 22-Horton (VG). A light crease is spotted in six cards, including Leafs 4-Pulford RC and 25-Reay. In short, a respectable ensemble with several alluring elements is worthy of consideration.
