A widely collected area of Canadiana, with numerous national brands and entities heavily sought by our nation’s antique cognoscenti including Red Indian gasoline products, King Cole was established the same year as our confederation in 1867, by brothers George L and William Barbour. Setting up shop with a wholesaling business in Saint John, NB, the company introduced their popular tea brand in 1910, and are still in business today. This exceedingly rare original King Cole porcelain hand push is accompanied by a King Cole porcelain door push, with the two absolutely ideal for dual display in your vintage advertising collection. The hand push is approx 3” x 8” and features vivid colours, with the King placed above and “King Cole Tea and Coffee” beneath. The grommets at the base and top are intact, with just a couple minor issues including edge wear and tiny chips, with a few very small areas of surface rusting. The door push is 2 ½” x 31 ½” and features “King Cole Tea” in black block letters over a bright yellow base and displays beautifully, with all the wear including minor chipping and spot rusting limited to the edges, sides and reverse, with the yellow painted surface remaining almost entirely clean minus a few small and minor scratches.
