Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Forever immortalized as the first netminder to regularly don facial protection, Jacques Plante remains one of the greatest goaltenders in history, with his early passing in 1986 leaving a void for autograph collectors. We offer just that, with a framed Sept 20, 1971 typed goaltending tips letter on Maple Leaf Gardens letterhead signed by the legendary superstar. Known to respond to young admirers during the era with his world class netminding advice, the 8 ¼” x 9 ½” single sheet appears to have been mounted to a backing at 10 ½” x 11 ½” and framed to slightly larger dimensions, with Plante signing in ballpoint. The sheet does show some condition issues including fold lines, toning and a few small stains, with the upper corners clipped. Despite these minor issues, the letter and signature present admirably.
