Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
An All-Star for six consecutive seasons with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and named the National League MVP for 1949, Jackie Robinson was also a World Series champion during his short but important career, and began his rise to stardom in the Negro leagues. This lot offers an attractively matted cheque signed by Robinson along with a modern photo. Dated March 7, 1961 and drawn on The First National City Bank of New York, the cheque has been signed in blue ballpoint, with a stamp that just touches the very end of the signature. The 8” x 10” black and white photo depicts Robinson in a posed shot, with both the photo and cheque mounted to the matte on the reverse by clear tape. At total dimensions of 16” x 20”, there is a second green matte designed to sit on top for a double-matte display, with just a quality frame needed for an elegant presentation.
