Peter Mahovlich’s spectacular shorthanded goal in Game 2 of the iconic 1972 Summit Series is one of the most memorable individual efforts in the history of elite level international hockey competition. The hulking Montreal Canadiens forward’s game-issued stick from the seminal series pitting the Team Canada against the Soviet Union is offered here along with Pete’s signed photo of his magnificent Game 2 goal at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens. The Little M and Summit Series hero Paul Henderson have each signed Pete’s Sher-Wood stick. Mahovlich signed at the top of the shaft with his #20 and the notation “Game Stick Team Canada 1972” on the front. “20 Mahovlich Pete” is stamped on the top of the shaft and there is a “6 JUIL 1972” date stamp low on the back of the shaft. Henderson signed in bold black marker across the front of the untaped blade. Peter signed “Pete Mahovlich #20, Sept 4 1972, S.H. Goal” on the ice below his image as the deked Hall of Fame Russian goalie Vladislav Tretiak for his highlight reel goal on the full color 8x10 photo. Included are COAs for the Mahovlich game-issued stick, the Henderson signature on that stick, and Mahovlich’s signed photo.
