Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Cards from when Wayne Gretzky and his talented young Edmonton Oilers teammates were priming – opening eyes wide and dropping jaws – are featured here in two more appealing binders from which the key rookie and star cards were pulled, with the cards leading us to tell of considerable high grade material. A Grant Fuhr RC is but NM and leads a complete 1982-83 O-Pee-Chee set, with numerous NM-MT-or-better examples for you to check out if you’re the high bidder. Pages can at times hide subtle flaws, with a light crease detected in the #106-Gretzky card and a series of wrinkles spotted in 117-Messier. Rookie cards of Hawerchuk, Francis, Mullen and Broten are involved, with multiple Gretzky “specials” also contributing, with Wayne also appearing several times in an ’83-84 binder. The Gretz/Messier card, along with a pair of commons, are all that is required for completion, with the ’83-84s offering dozens and dozens of MINT (or close to it) examples and Pelle Lindbergh, Scott Stevens and Guy Carbonneau leading the RC lineup. Whether you flip through the pages or pull out the cards, we predict you’ll appreciate the overall condition.
