Best remembered for his time guarding the crease of the Edmonton Oilers throughout numerous Stanley Cup championships, Grant Fuhr spent parts of three seasons in upstate New York with the Buffalo Sabres during the early-to-mid-1990s. This signed blocker and glove combo was used by the HOFer in 1992-93, with both photo-matched as a set, accompanied by a signed stick also used by Fuhr during the 1992-93 campaign. First, the blocker and glove are Brown Spoiler models in Sabres colours with a white leather patch affixed to each that has been signed by Fuhr in black marker (Getty Images show Fuhr using these models in games already signed). The pair show light use, with wear to the palm of the blocker and repairs to the lacing on the pocket of the glove including brown lacing added. The stick is a Sher-Wood model with “Fuhr G. 31” stamped to the upper shaft, with the original tape over the blade and knob and the NHL striping accent intact over the handle. Showing nice use including chipping and red paint transfer, Fuhr has signed the blade adding “Buf 8 at Mtl 3, Sat Mar. 22 – 93 Game Used”.
Regarding the photo-match for the blocker and glove, Getty Image #72284187 (April 4, 1993) has been matched to the dark mark through the "I" of "SPOILERS" on the face of the blocker, with the brown lacing added to the pocket of the glove also visible.
