Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Accurately described mentioning his “speed as a skater, his brilliance as a stickhandler” and his “manliness and sportsmanship as a competitor”, this original framed Boston Garden artwork with Howie Morenz eulogy also states that “no visiting player was more feared by the Bruins, no player more respected and admired by the Boston fans”. At approx 10” x 14” and featuring attractive calligraphic script with an expertly executed image of Morenz top center, the Frank Ryan eulogy lists the date of the superstar’s passing, with his career seasons listed along with the clubs he represented. “At Boston Garden March 9, 1937” also appears over the bottom right. The vintage keepsake shows just a bit of minor toning and edge wear, with tape residue visible over the bottom corners, likely from a previous display. Corner-mounted in a modern frame to full dimensions of 15” x 19”, this rare survivor honours one of the most legendary players and greatest careers in history.
