Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Fittingly chosen to grace the cover of the inaugural issue of Hockey Magazine in 1927 as the world’s biggest hockey superstar during the Roaring Twenties, a youthful and legendary Howie Morenz dominates the cover, depicted in an attractive bust portrait. The short lived publication features insightful articles regarding the vintage game as well as a complete 1927-28 NHL schedule and a detailed explanation of the rules of the world’s fastest sport. Exceedingly scarce, we have encountered only a few examples throughout our two decades plus, with this specimen featuring a clean cover image and intact interior, with the back cover detached and most of the front cover detached as well. Set in a matted modern frame to full dimensions of just under 14” x 17”, the rarity displays beautifully, and would serve as an advanced piece for any Habs, Howie Morenz or historic hockey publication collection.
