Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Representing only the fourth Stanley Cup victory the hallowed Montreal Canadiens ever celebrated – as well as their first back-to back championships, we have a seldom-seen composite team picture of the 1930-31 Stanley Cup champion Canadiens. At roughly 10 ½” x 20”, the black and white image features upper body cameos of the squad along with coaching staff, with legend Howie Morenz dead center – perfectly exemplifying his iconic status – along with fellow HOFers Aurel Joliat, George Hainsworth and Sylvio Mantha. Framed to full dimensions of 13” x 22 ½”, toning and foxing has taken place, with considerable water damage along the right hand third of the picture. The frame itself also shows heavy wear, with the back loosely attached with tape. This is the only example of this rare image we have ever handled.
