Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Selected in both the 1976 NHL and WHA drafts, Mike Hordy spent parts of two seasons with the Islanders in New York, along with time representing different clubs in the CHL and AHL. From his lone season in Switzerland, we have a Zurich Grasshoppers jersey worn by the Thunder Bay native in 1982-83, where he scored 26 points in 27 games, accompanied by a framed team photo. Sporting Finnish Kisapuku oy labeling with “L” sizing affixed to the collar, there is an Adidas crest screened to the right breast, with the team crest and “Grasshoppers” on the upper reverse rubberized. “4” is screened to each sleeve band and rubberized over the reverse, with an Avis sponsorship patch over the lower reverse. Showing good use with marks and wear to the material, the mesh jersey also has small areas of red paint transfer along with a team repair on the right sleeve, with the reverse number shrinking, causing tightening and bunching-up of the material. The team photo is actually two framed 5” x 7” images, one of Hordy with teammate and personnel, the other, the team shot, with both framed to 10” x 14”. A signed LOA from Tom Hordy will accompany this rarely-seen vintage Swiss jersey.
