Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Highlighted by a high-quality pair of full women's skates from the 1910s/20s in beautiful condition, this lot also includes an additional two pairs of antique 19th century Starr Manufacturing skate pairs. First, the ladies skates were produced by the Salchow Manufacturing Co in Stockholm but made for the British market, with the right skate sporting an interior label from Lillywhites in Piccadilly Circus. The leather boots and stamped blades both show light use (Salchow & Meyer appears on each blade), with what appears to be the original intact lacing. A pair of vintage leather skate guards – possibly period - will accompany. The two antique skate pairs were produced by Canada’s Starr Manufacturing in Halifax, with the first pair “No 7 Acme Club” models featuring wooden bases with uniquely-shaped blades, with each stamped with both the model and maker, with some of the strapping remaining on each. They show heavy wear to the bases and blades, with a period nail repair added to one base. The second pair likely date to right before the turn of the century and are solid cast models designed to be affixed to the boot of your choice, with the company name stamped to each, and just light to moderate wear shown. Please note that each antique skate lot in our current auction hails from an advanced 19th century skate collection.
