Finishing five points behind the rival Quebec Nordiques, the Montreal Canadiens concluded the 1985-86 NHL season in second place in the Adams Division, with Mats Naslund’s 110 points leading the club. Dispatching of Boston, Hartford and the Rangers in first three rounds of the postseason, the Habs would meet and defeat the Calgary Flames in the final to grasp the franchise’s 23 Stanley Cup championship. This stick issued to superstar blueliner Chris Chelios has been team-signed by the 1986 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens. A Sher-Wood PMP 9030 model with “Chelios 24” stamped to the upper shaft, the front side has been shaved down to accept the approx 18 ballpoints signatures, with “Merry Christmas” and “From the Montreal Canadiens” in black marker over the upper shaft. There is also a date stamp of “31 Oct 1985”. The signers include Chelios, along with Bob Gainey, Larry Robinson, Brian Skrudland, Tom Kurvers, Kjell Dahlin, Mike Lalor, Sergio Momesso, Steve Rooney, Steve Penney, Guy Carbonneau, Mario Tremblay, Eddy Palchuk and a few others. Most appear to be quick, rushed examples that display nicely with just some light handling wear to the stick.
