Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Among the most elusive and sought hockey rookie cards of the postwar era is that of Montreal Canadiens' legend Henri Richard, with a lower grade example offered here. Slabbed "1 FP" by KSA, card #4 exhibits soiling, rounded corners and a rather significant side-to-side crease through the middle. Skating in this third NHL season when cards like this were found in Parkhurst packs, the diminutive center had already impressed hockey observers, with part of the write-up on the back reading, "Though still not as productive as the Game's brightest stars, Henri Richard takes a back seat to no player when it comes to colourful, fascinating hockey skill." Fascinating is how Henri contributed to a record 11 Stanley Cup championships! A two-inch diagonal scratch to the front of the KSA holder runs parallel to and near Richard's CCM stick.
