Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Guy Lafleur’s all-important 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee rookie card is the focal point of this years-in-the-making stash, with card #148 surviving in attractive crease-free condition. The image is right of center but only a light touch to the bottom right corner, a small surface scratch and a couple of (left) edge touches, down near “GUY”, are detected, with smooth edges and three sharp corners among the attributes – it’s EX-MT+ in our book. An almost-complete run of Guy’s regular OPC issues is also present, with the exception of 1974-75 and ’83-84, with some duplication to report but condition not always as nice as the rookie card. A G+ ’72-73 #59 entry is notable, with a mix of conditions, including some high grade material, among 75 specials, (All-Star, League/Team Leader, Record Breaker), housed in 9-pocket pages. Five dozen others are from Lafleur’s comeback years with the Rangers and Nordiques, with a few modern cards also contributing. Notables are 2005-06 The Cup Gold #57, (serial-numbered “01/25”) and 2007-08 SP Authentic Limited #130 (01/100). Miscellaneous items completing include a ’71-72 OPC Poster (multiple pinholes at the top and a corner tear) and three magazines starring Guy on the cover.
