Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
NHL history is studded with great scoring lines. These lines have earned nicknames based off of a number of factors including names of the players, origins, and purpose of the line. The Legion of Doom, Kraut Line, and the French Connection all represent great players who played at their best when together. Nowhere else is this more true than for the legendary Production Line. For three years in the late 1940s, Detroit enjoyed a period of success helmed by the trio of Sid Abel, Ted Lindsay, and Gordie Howe. The three Hall of Famers routinely led the NHL in scoring during this period and cemented themselves in hockey folklore. We present a framed set of three signed pucks from the members themselves. Sporting Red Wings logos, they are signed in gold and displayed in a large black frame over a picture of the three skating together. Included in the 20 1/2" x 26 1/2" frame are two Red Wings pins and a small plaque identifying the players and listing their career points and H.O.F. induction year. A COA is pasted onto the back.
Also included in this lot is a limited edition numbered print of a drawing created by artist James Lumber. It is titled 'Mr. Hockey' and is a tribute to Gordie Howe. It portrays his delight upon receiving his first pair of skates and continues through to show him in an NHL All-Star jersey and his familiar Detroit Red Wings uniform. The print is number 5566 in a run of 9999. It is held inside a 28" x 32" brown wood frame and the piece is in overall excellent condition.
