Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/2/2022
A day Winnipeggers won’t soon forget, the purchase of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2011 paved the way for the triumphant return of hockey to the Manitoba capital. This Winnipeg Jets Set 2 jersey was worn by centerman Nik Antropov during the inaugural season back, and it’s been photo-matched. With size 58+ tagging in the collar, the jersey also has Reebok and NHL patches on the front and back neckline (there is also a team store price tag attached). Featuring the new textured Jets team crest, “80” in slanted and layered tackle twill numerals are sewn to the sleeves and verso, with the inaugural season patch over the right breast. Game-wear includes a few marks over the front and sleeves, with traces of red paint transfer near the left elbow. Team repairs are also visible, with 5 examples over the sleeves. The team patch is affixed to the inside hem, with an LOA from the Jets to accompany.
Getty Image #137431904 (Jan 17, 2012) has been matched to the extended threads visible at the bottom of the “8” and at the left and right bottom of the “0” of “80” on the left sleeve, with the small dark mark on the lower right sleeve also visible.
