Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Some important O-Pee-Chee rookie cards from the early-1970s are involved here, although we should point out right away that nothing is high grade. Au contraire, especially with a near set of '70-71s (only missing a Darryl Sittler RC for completion), with several of the keys among the low, low grade (Poor) representatives. Such is the case with Gilbert Perreault's rookie, with that of Bobby Clarke more than half ripped in two and heavily creased. Multiple creases affect regular Orr, Howe and Hull issues, with one of four Orr Trophy Winner cards torn. Although VG, VG+ and VG-EX combine to be the majority amid the remainder, (you'll come across limited EX examples), intermittent tortured cards are to be expected, with both checklists fully marked. The '71-72 assembly is definitely nicer (more VG to VG-EX and more EX cards to come upon and less hammered low grade material), but some star and rookie cards are roughed-up, notably Hull, Clarke, Perreault and Dionne RC. More respectable is the Ken Dryden rookie (G), with a small crease at the middle top and middle bottom not affecting the image. A Guy Lafleur RC is also G with corner wear but no heavy creases. Orr (#100) and 245-Orr Norris/Hart make it to VG, with Bobby's 251-All Star card crease-free and VG-EX, similar to Gordie Howe's special "Mr. Hockey" card. The #111 checklist, 30-Ullman and 90-DeMarco RC are not present, with 264-2nd Series Checklist partially marked and multi-creased. Still plenty of fun to be had with these classic 50-year-old blasts from the past.
