Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
High grade material appears to strongly dominate this offering, with a 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee set and a ’75-76 WHA set leading in appeal. We’ll take care of the NHL cards first, with sharp, crisp star cards pulled from 9-pocket pages suggesting NM-MT to MINT cards galore are to be discovered. Small flaws, as you likely know, can be masked in pages but all in all, impressive stuff, with yes, unmarked checklists and team checklists. The toughest of the World Hockey Association issues is always of interest, with the 132-card gathering here highlighted by a PSA NM 7 (#1) card of Bobby Hull. Bobby’s All-Star card and the key rookie card, that of Mark Howe, are EX-MT, while a touched corner or light ding send Plante, 100-Howe, Cheevers and Ftorek RC to EX or EX+. A little corner crease helps to render Gordie’s All-Star issue VG+, with the unmarked checklist at EX. Other random pulls reveal some intermittent flaws, meaning mostly EX to NM is what to expect, with a VG-EX 1-Hull (duplicate) card thrown-in. Two (66-card) WHA sets from ’77-78 are also in the mix and have also been stored in pages/binders. NM-or-better examples appear to be the norm, although centering is superior in one of the ensembles, with again, unmarked checklists.
