Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Continuing with coaching after leaving the St Louis Blues, Red Berenson returned to his alma mater in 1984-85 to coach the University of Michigan, and stayed with the Big Ten school to and including the 2016-17 collegiate season. Throughout his 33 years as head coach, The Red Baron would lead the Wolverines to two NCAA championships, with their 22 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances the longest streak in college hockey history. Originating from his personal collection, we have a trio of awards presented during his time coaching collegiate hockey, with the John MacInnes Award from 2019 (presented for youth programs and development), a Coach of the Year award from 2016, and an award presented for the Wolverines national championship in 1995-96. All glass and plastic and ranging in height from 9” to 13”, each sports the particulars engraved or screened, with “Red Berenson” listed on each along with the date. The group shows just light wear and no obtrusive marks or damage, with a signed LOA from Red Berenson to accompany.
