Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Well, the mostly crease-free fronts here are decent enough to look at but the majority of the cards (all but 15) in a 1954-55 Parkhurst hockey assembly have backs that reveal that they were once glued into one of those classic old photo albums, with plenty of black paper still glued on them - you'll get a good sense from our images of the stars. Notables among those not affected are 82-Sasakamoose RC (numbers in pen on the upper left front) and 70-Howell, the latter with a Lucky Premium Card back but only F, similar to six action cards with creases and rounded corners. Not present are #s 58-Creighton, 79, 80, 83, 85, 86, 87-Gadsby, 89, 91-Kelly/Lumley, 93, 94, 96-Sawchuk/Kennedy and 99-Plante/Kennedy. Meanwhile, a complete 75-card wrestling set is more respectable, with no back damage and cards mostly in the G to VG range comprising that stack, although you can also expect some P-F entries. We spot three with Lucky Premium Card backs; #s 11, 38 and 65. Mat stars of the day Whipper Billy Watson, Yvon Robert, Yukon Eric, Killer Kowalski, Johnny Rougeau and Little Beaver are among those featured, many of them in action - cool. Tossed onto the piles are three 1962 Topps Civil War News cards, including a partially-marked #88-Checklist. A crease sends it to (otherwise) VG+, with however a miscut back also to mention.
