Utilizing the moniker for three different clubs in the city throughout the 1960s to mid-1970s, the Omaha Knights first began life in the IHL in 1959, with the first edition of the team competing until and including the 1962-63 season. Well ahead of its time in both construction and style, we offer an early-1960s Knights jersey with use attributed to Maurice "Moe" Benoit. Constructed of durene in an era when even professional clubs were still donning wool, a General Athletics label with “46” sizing is affixed to the collar. Featuring “Omaha” and “Knights” sewn to the chest in single gold twill as opposed to the traditional felt found during the period, “6” appears over the verso and shoulders in matching material – with the shoulder numbers also early for a garment of the period. Nice game-use is exhibited, with wear to the material including scrapes, runs and burns, There is also evidence of a former “A” over the left breast, with team repairs present on front (2), reverse (4) and sleeves (5). Benoit wore the #6 jersey in 1960-61, 1961-62 and in the final season, 1962-63.
