Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
First seeing NHL action with the Montreal Canadiens just before the league expansion of the late-1960s, Carol Vadnais enjoyed a lengthy career that concluded with New Jersey in 1982-83, with the bulk of his tenure spent with the New York Rangers. From his time in California, we have skates worn by Vadnais during his stay with the Oakland Seals/California Golden Seals (1968-69 to 1971-72). Originally gifted by the Vadnais family to a family friend who was a refugee and had never owned skates, the Bauer Probilt “Defense Special” skates with intact vintage lacing sport “5” in white paint added to each side, with “5” also handwritten to the underside of the left boot. Great use is shown, with wear and rubbing to the leather in spots along with cuts to the toes sections, with some minor rusting to the blades. The original recipient’s name is also handwritten within each skate.
