A veteran of over 1,200 NHL contests, James Patrick was a first-round draft selection of the New York Rangers in 1981 and enjoyed a lengthy 21-season career that included numerous seasons with the Rangers, Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres. From the 1991-92 NHL season, where Patrick scored a career-high 71 points, we have a Rangers jersey worn by the Winnipeg native. Gerry Cosby labeling with a CCM tag with handwritten “50” sizing are affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with “Rangers” placed diagonally across the chest in individual blue-over-red drop-shadow tackle twill letters, “3” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the NHL 75th anniversary crest over the left breast. A MeiGray LOA will accompany.
Heavier game-use is visible on the garment, with a few dark marks over the front along with red paint transfer over the lower reverse. There are also numerous team repairs, with examples present on the reverse (2) and sleeves (3). We should also note the outline of what appears to be a former alternate’s “A” over the left breast (Patrick did serve as an alternate captain with the Rangers), but no stitch marks are visible.
