Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Much more difficult to track down than their 1939-40 black and white predecessors are O-Pee-Chee’s sepia-toned 5” by 7” cards that came after, with numerous aspects to fill you in on with this batch, its completeness an appealing attribute. It’s a lower grade assembly, with however a PSA-graded Max Bentley rookie card looking quite attractive for a GOOD+ 2.5 example. Also appealing is Milt Schmidt’s RC, with a small crease in three corners which show wear not affecting the legend’s image, but the card, in comparison, lower than Bentley. Back damage, some of it severe (scrapbook removal) is to mention with a dozen, including both Turk Broda cards (#108 (small tear) is nicer than #130, the latter trimmed/pasted) and 122-Schriner, with the same Syl Apps photo curiously used for cards 118 and 146. They’re acceptable, with bends/creases, while similar or lesser are most of the rest, with notables being 101-Toe Blake, 136-Lynn Patrick and rookie cards of 116-Ken Reardon, 124-Jack Stewart and 125-Elmer Lach. Two cards (103, 106) are laminated, with nine joining Schmidt in the nicer group. They include 107, 109, 110-Drillon, 117, 120, 121, 127-Larson RC, 135-Benson RC and 147-Getliffe. Low grade (P) duplicates are RCs; 114-Singbush, 121-Benoit and 148-Chisholm. Exceedingly tough to put together are these scarcities, with all of the work already done for you here.
*A couple of obvious scratches to the front of the PSA holder (Bentley) are to be aware of.
