Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Producing one of the greatest seasons for a goaltender ever witnessed in the QMJHL, Felix Potvin earned numerous accolades and awards while setting a new QMJHL GAA record (Jacques Plante Trophy) during his third and final season with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in 1990-91, including CHL Goaltender of the Year, CHL Memorial Cup Most Outstanding Goaltender, QMJHL Defensive Player of the Year, QMJHL Playoffs MVP (Guy Lafleur Trophy) and others. Hailing from his personal collection, we have the Chrysler Cup Challenge jersey worn by Potvin in 1991 (Junior Hockey All-Star Game OHL vs QMJHL). A few labels including an example from Cooper are affixed to the collar, with the mesh jersey measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with a rubberized QMJHL team crest with stars in matching material placed above, “29” is heat-pressed to the sleeves and verso in layered vinyl, with “Potvin” across the upper reverse in matching material. A video from the game seems to be showing the matching QMJHL jerseys, with Potvin’s jersey showing the same customization as our specimen at each side, but with no laces visible. A signed LOA from Feliz Potvin will accompany.
The jersey shows minimal use, with some light red discolouration to the sleeves and puckering (slight bending) to the reverse numbers. Each lower side is also “opened”, with the seam torn at the base, with pieces of skate lace added to each side.
