Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
It was during the 1962-63 season and inside packs of blue-bordered Topps hockey cards that these “bucks” were inserted, one a pack, with numerous bucks surely required to be forked over to acquire these two dozen. The scarce inserts curiously resemble Canadian dollar bills back in the day, with hockey players’ heads taking the place of Queen Elizabeth’s. At a little over 4" in length, they had to be folded to fit into the packs, so all have a fold line either just to the left of the player's image (most of them), or through the left side of them, but most of this group look to have been stored flat for decades – the lines are rather faint, with the exception of the Glenn Hall example. We don’t spot other obvious creases, with light toning observed on five, including Hall and Gump Worsley, the two goalies actually with creases and a bit of soiling to Worsley. Other HOFers highlighting the roster are Hull, Mikita, Bathgate, Bucyk, Boivin, Howell and Pilote, with the players’ facsimile signatures a nifty touch. You’ll be pleased to put your hands on this wad of bills.
