Affiliates of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the St Catharines Saints enjoyed a brief time in the AHL under that moniker, icing a club in St Catharines from just 1982 to 1986 before the relocation to Newmarket for the 1986-87 season. We have a Saints jersey originating from the early-to-mid-1980s. The original Maska label is gone from the collar with just a laundering label with “50” sizing affixed, with the jersey measuring-out to roughly a size 48. Styled with an attractive team crest with “Saints” embroidered, “11” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single twill, with matching leaf alternate crests over each shoulder. There is also evidence of a former nameplate. Attributed to Wes Jarvis, who wore the #11 jersey 1984-85 & 1985-86, Marc Magnan also wore #11 in 1983-84.
Sporting heavy game-use throughout with considerable wear to the material along with marks, pulls, burns and scrapes, the first “1” of “11” on the right sleeve is damaged, with the first reverse “1” of “11” also showing loose threading in spots along with light staining. There is also pilling in areas including along the collar, with a team repair to the right sleeve.
