Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Steve Yzerman, the man who led the Detroit Red Wings back to respectability and then on to Stanley Cup glory (three times!) stars here on three 1984-85 O-Pee-Chee rookie cards, with Canada’s KSA grading firm examining and encapsulating them. One with very pleasing near-perfect centering earned a mark of 8.5 NMM+, with the slightest of touches observed on the top right corner, while one with Steve’s image(s) left of center is slabbed 8 NMM. Meanwhile, we cannot detect the issues that led an off-centered third example to be assessed 4 VGE, with only a lightly dinged bottom right corner spotted. Completing the lot is a sharp Topps issue that received a mark of 7 NM. Both OPC and Topps versions mention Yzerman’s rookie Red Wings’ records for goals (39) and points (87). Over two decades later upon retirement, the legend had scored 692! regular season goals and 1755 points – what a player. All four KSA holders have been well cared for and do not have any notable scratches or other flaws.
