Produced to promote the sales of the company’s noteworthy peanut butter, York issued three sets of tumblers throughout the 1960s, with the first offering of 21 featuring Canadiens and Leafs players issued in conjunction with the start of the 1961 Stanley Cup playoffs. This collection includes four tumblers from the 1960-61 set, with each issued in the first series (issued in two series, the first have an “F” imprinted within the bottom of each tumbler, while the second series feature an imprinted “D”), including the extremely rare Phil Goyette example. At 4 ¾” in height, Leafs examples are present for Dave Keon and George Armstrong, while Habs tumblers include Jacques Plante and Phil Goyette. In stunning high-grade across the board, sporting perfect applied graphics, each example remains uncracked and unchipped, with just a very small scratch to each glass. We should also note that in 2010 a Goyette example sold for an enormous sum.
