Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

A decorated World War II soldier, member of the Canadian Senate and two-decade Governor of McGill University, Hartland Molson of the famed family of Molson brewers also owned the Montreal Canadiens, purchasing the club along with his brother in 1957. From one Hall of Fame member to another, we have a typed letter signed by Molson that was originally sent to Bob Gainey. At 8 ½” x 11” and on Canadian Senate letterhead, the Aug 9, 1989 correspondence has Molson thanking Gainey for his tenure with the Habs. The 1973 HOF builder added a dark and bold signature that remains flawless, with just the pair of original horizontal fold lines present and no condition issues. Molson passed away in 2002 at the age of 95.
