Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Originating from the Hockey Diversified Inc NHL Goal Puck Program that witnessed pucks used to score goals during NHL games in 1972-73 and 1973-74 labeled and sold, we have a signed example from the second year of the program. This particular puck was used by Bill Hogaboam to score the Detroit Red Wings 160th goal of the season vs the Pittsburgh Penguins, at the Detroit Olympia, on January 27, 1974. Assisted by Pierre Jarry and Jack Lynch, it was Hogaboam’s 8th of his 18 goals of the season, with a total of 80 career goals scored. Putting the Wings up 3-2, the goal was scored on the power play at 6:49 of the second, with the boys from Motor City slipping past the City of Brotherly Love 6-5 despite being heavily outshot. The rubberized Red Wings logo is a bit dark and shows a tear, with the Goal Puck Program label also dark with blemishes, with Hogaboam signing the label in red ballpoint.
