Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Close to 800 O-Pee-Chee cards combine in a big thick binder here, with the Montreal Canadiens dominating hockey when kids were originally pulling them from wax packs. Pulled stars and random pulls reveal that these were not played with very much by a youngster, with sharp cards dominating. The 1976-77 set looks to be mostly EX-MT-or-better, with dozens of NM and NM-MT contributors. NM to NM-MT cards appear to be the norm in the ’77-78 set, with likely some MINT examples to come upon. Exceptions in both sets are to mention but are not plentiful. Checklists and team checklists are unmarked in both ensembles, except for a fully-marked ’76-77 Islanders team card. The key ’76-77 Bryan Trottier rookie card has a diamond cut and some print “snow” to be aware of and is otherwise EX-MT. It’s unfortunate that the Bobby Orr cards are among the condition exceptions; but VG with partially rounded corners is #213 from ’76-77 and a small stain along the lower right edge of the ’77-78 representative affects that card (otherwise NM). The variations of the latter set’s checklists are not all present, with “Topps” appearing only on #381. Attractive cards and multiple options await the winning bidder.
