Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Back after a two-year hiatus from hockey cards and with another colorful design was Topps in 1957-58, with a strong rookie card class rendering its 66-card effort popular with collectors and this ensemble featuring some intriguing components. The key Glenn Hall rookie card is in an ancient KSA holder and received an apparent generous mark of 7-NM back in the day, while an early PSA holder is home to a Pierre Pilote RC graded EX-MT 6. Other important PSA representatives are Terry Sawchuk at NM 7 and Gordie Howe at EX-MT 6. The raw rest are led in terms of importance by Johnny Bucyk’s crease-free rookie (VG-EX) and a Norm Ullman RC at VG. Most of the remainder exhibit corner wear and/or a light crease rendering them in the G to VG range, with a pin hole in the top of seven, including 7-Horvath RC, 18-Boivin, 51-Howell and 52-Gendron RC. A card of 63-Camille Henry (G) features a ballpoint signature, while EX-MT standouts are Hall of Famers 43-Pronovost and 48-Kelly. An Elmer Vasko RC is similarly sharp but a hairline bottom right corner crease sends it to VG+. Much to consider, including lots of swell colors – Topps knew a thing or two about eye-catching colors.
