Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Numerous past and then-current stars of the Canadiens and Maple Leafs contribute to the appeal of Parkhurst’s 1955-56 hockey card set, with a dozen involved here. Cards of Tim Horton, Jean Beliveau and Bernie Geoffrion are crease-free with light corner wear and some color loss in the red strip on the front and are VG+ or a tad higher, with Oldtime Greats 24-Primeau, 56-Vezina, 60-Mantha, 62-Siebert and 66-Reay similarly without creases. A small corner crease is observed in 63-Bill Durnan’s RC (VG) and a light one in 33-King Clancy, while gum or wax staining affects the front of 59-George Hainsworth’s (crease-free) example. A rookie card of 35-Don Marshall looks to make it to EX, the same as 28-Syl Apps OTG and 52-Gerry McNeil, while in the VG, VG+ and VG-EX range due to wear and not creases are 6-Klukay, 8-Morrison, 11-Thomson, 16-Cahan RC, 17-Marshall RC, 32-Cotton and 48-St. Laurent. Creased and lesser are 5-Stewart, 10-Sloan and 15-Nesterenko, with three action cards, all of them G, completing; 71-Plante is Protected (G), 76-Curry Scores Again and 77-Jammed On The Boards.
